The planning authority for Goring is South Oxfordshire District Council. Anyone seeking to build in the village or change the use of existing premises should obtain advice from the Council's officers at the address shown opposite. Goring Village Design Group was formed by local residents, following a series of meetings on the theme of 'local identity' organised by the Amenity Association. A wide cross-section of the community has been involved in the production of this Village Design Statement. The draft of this document was distributed to relevant organisations and individuals with an interest in matters of design and has been placed on public display for comment. Its conclusions have been endorsed by the residents of Goring in the course of a carefully planned consultation process. Goring & Streatley Amenity Association will monitor progress in these areas and continue to represent the views of its members on design and planning matters. The Village Design Statement was endorsed by South Oxfordshire District Council on 25 July 2001. In the event of any conflict between this Statement and the South Oxfordshire Building Design Guide, the latter shall take precedence. The original text and illustrations of the Village Design Statement have been abridged for this website.
