The Design Statement
This
Village Design Statement describes the visual character of Goring as it is in
2001 and the qualities treasured by local people. It offers guidance on how
these can be protected and enhanced in new development on any scale, including
extensions to existing buildings. The Statement has been written and produced
by a group of residents, in consultation with the local community. It aims to
show how future development - based on an understanding of Goring's evolution
- can respect and maintain the unique character of the village. The harmony
between buildings and their setting in the wider landscape gives a village its
special quality. Goring is unique and that is why we have chosen to live and
conduct our businesses here.
